Martin Taylor is having issues with his live-in-love, Celia Carson. She’s not supporting his acting career and the upcoming Christmas party is stressing their relationship to a point of no return. On top of everything else he’s falling for the maid, Randi Sanders. Martin’s timing is always off, he never thinks things through, and to make matters worse, Randi has no idea he’s really Martin Taylor. She thinks he’s the limo driver. He hates to come forward with the truth because Randi’s making him feel like he hasn’t felt in years.

When Martin and Celia’s family starts arriving Martin struggles to keep Randi from learning the truth. He may hide things for a while but soon someone will see through his antics and he’ll be forced to face the truth he’s been denying. Is Randi the real thing, or just an illusion of what he hopes to have someday? Is she a woman who wants Martin Taylor for the things his acting career can provide, or is she a woman that will want him for the man he has become?

I'm giving this story a 5* because it's nice and refreshing to read clean romance. I agree with some of the other reviews that it's a bit preachy, but I like that part of it b/c I'm Christian, and the author states it has Christian themes. It also is a series, so I expected it to be a cliff hanger. Actually, I don't really classify it as a cliff hanger, but it does just end. Granted, it ends abruptly, but this kind of story could go on forever. It has to end somewhere. It didn't leave me hanging where I feel obligated to buy another installment, although I probably will. Why? The author has a way of grabbing you and her characters seem to have realistic thoughts and actions. I liked Randi a lot. I liked all the characters really. Even Celia wasn't all that bad. She was just not right for Martin. Anyway, if you like clean romance with no sex and no bad language and don't mind conservative views concerning dating and marriage, give this book a read.Product details

Martin Taylor, a famous actor, has supposedly requested from Maids 101 a homely girl and/or one that is dating. Martin's woman friend, Celia, of 9 months, who he is living with tends to be of a jealous disposition. Celia has persuaded Martin to have both his and her family to the new house for a few days before Christmas thru New Year's Day when he had wanted to go to Colorado. Celia is also expecting a wedding proposal.
Martin's mom has never met Celia but has heard enough. She tells her son that she will not stay under his roof if he is sleeping with Celia. She will not compromise her beliefs. Martin respects his mother's wishes and moves out of their room.
Martin, realizing that it is too late to order the limo to pick up the maids, heads out himself in an old Ford. Randi Sanders is one of the best maids at 101 and is the only one suitable for the position right now. She has uglied herself down as Nancy, the boss, suggested. Randi purposefully never watches TV or reads any of the glam mags. It makes her job easier if she has not heard gossip about the one she is going to be working for. SO, she has NO clue that it is Martin who has picked her up! LOL! What occurs is absolutely hilarious.
At first Martin cannot believe that Randi has no clue who he is but begins to enjoy the fact that she is just natural with him AKA Mike. (She sees him in a pair of his friends coveralls one evening.) She really believes he is one of the hired hands. Of course deception does come back on you and Celia eventually finds out what is going on.
How will it end? Will Randi be mad when she finds out who Martin really is?
This book is an easy read albeit long. Although a trilogy this one does have an ending of sorts so you do not have to purchase the next one unless you want to. There are some proof-reading errors which to some would not matter but really irked me. The main one is using uppercase letters after questions and exclamations when part of the same sentence. For e.g. 1) "Do you think I'll live?" He asked..... (Should be 'he'.) 2) Wow! Was the only thing she could think. (Should be 'was'.) It would have been helpful to have thoughts in italics as this makes them stand out more.
This book has been listed as a Christian novel. Hmmm.... It is clean in that there are NO bedroom scenes or bad language. HOWEVER it is obvious that Martin has been sleeping with Celia. Although brought up in a Christian home, Martin has walked away from that life. Martin's parents are Christians and do not beat around the bush telling their kids the way they should be acting. His mum says, "If you are not willing to wait until you are married to take a woman to your bed, then you just don't respect yourself or her, the way you should." Martin and Randi do share a few kisses but nothing else. If you are looking for a light, amusing read then this is for you BUT if you are looking for a solid Christian romance then this book is not for you.
With all that said, I congratulate the author for writing this different romance. SO many out there have the same ol' story-lines but this one is fresh and you really get into the characters. Off to read the next one!
Great writing, fun premise. Will they figure each other out? He is a motorcycle riding, pick-up truck driving rich boy. She is a rough cut diamond who works as a maid (but dusts off rather gorgeously). The only element in their way is a snooty girl friend who is too fresh on the scene to really matter - but she does, in the most classical grab-the-money crass manner.
In "Maid for Martin" you have double-entendres, cat and mouse pacing, and great character development. Obviously the author is an experienced writer. Load this one onto your and then treat yourself to a beach read, or a read-in-bed with a box of chocolates and a sip of champagne!
I wasn't certain what to title my review, but the more I thought about it, the more I decided it was about bad choices. Specifically, it was about Martin's bad choices, which he made in spite of his Christian upbringing. (BTW, this is a good example of a book NOT being listed under the Christian category, but it has strong Christian themes -- a lot of people write really nasty, whiny reviews about that, lol.)
Martin was brought up with solid, Christian beliefs about the relationship between a man and a woman you meet a woman, you get to know her, you marry her (if she's the one) and THEN you move in with her. But Martin has allowed himself to sort of drift into a live-in situation with Celia Carson. Neither one truly loves the other. In a twist on the usual story line, Martin is ready to settle down and start a family; Celia is ready to spend Martin's money, even though she doesn't respect his work as an actor.
Randi doesn't have quite the same background as Martin, but she's a "good girl" and wouldn't dream of getting involved with a man who was married or soon to be married. So when she mistakes Martin for the limo driver, and learns he's involved with the lady of the house (Celia), she is very honest with him about their relationship.
In the midst of preparations for a huge family Christmas celebration (with Martin's Christian family and Celia's snooty relatives, ugh), Randi continues to fall for the "limo driver", who assures her he's ended his relationship with Celia. That's only partially true, and of course, the truth comes out -- to both women!
Is Martin man enough to correct the wrong choices he's made in his life? Will Randi wait for him to do so? Will Celia let go of Martin's wallet? You'll just have to read to find out.
I'd recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a nice clean romance. Minor editorial issues, but none so huge as to detract from the story.
